Companies and Miner & Miner Join Forces to Provide Powerful Design
Applications to Electric Utilities November
5, 2001 - Exton,
Pennsylvania - Roussey Companies and Miner & Miner have begun collaboration
efforts to integrate Roussey’s ADDS™
product and Miner & Miner’s Designer™
8 product. Roussey’s ADDS product performs fast and efficient URD
(Underground Residential Distribution) design for the electric utility
market, and Miner & Miner’s Designer facilitates all types of
job planning and network design, based on the ESRI™
ArcGIS™
technology. The two companies have been working together to provide a
seamless data migration technology, allowing engineered solutions
provided by ADDS, to import directly into Miner & Miner’s
Designer product. This
effort will enable two different categories of software, which have
not traditionally exchanged data easily, to seamlessly migrate data,
allowing end users to benefit from both products’ core strengths.
“We are excited about the technical and business opportunities
offered by this effort. For the first time we can offer clients an
optimized engineering solution, with a data life cycle which extends
beyond the design session. Miner & Miner’s Designer product can
now take that data and incorporate it into a robust GIS model,” said
Larry Durke, Director of Software Development for Roussey Companies. Built
as an extension to ArcFM™,
Designer provides an integrated design environment for utilities of
any size through an intuitive graphical user interface. Shapefiles
exported from ADDS, are imported into Designer, utilizing data
generated as a result of the design process. “We
now have the opportunity to help our users maximize productivity and
to increase the business benefits to electric utilities,” said Jeff
Meyers, President of Miner & Miner. Recognizing
the need for better design practices, Roussey has created an
innovative software module that automates the design of residential
utility distribution. In the competitive world of deregulation, ADDS
gives utilities a definitive edge...
