Roussey Companies and KEMA Consulting/GeoIT Partner to Migrate ADDS™ Design Data Directly into GIS Systems

February 13, 2002 - Exton, Pennsylvania - Roussey Companies and KEMA Consulting/GeoIT have begun demonstrating interfaces which migrate data from Roussey’s ADDS™ product into the Smallworld and Vision* GIS platforms. The joint effort of the two companies developed the interface which utilizes standard format exports from ADDS to generate true GIS objects. These objects retain the geometry and attributes of the original ADDS design.

This technology will bridge the gap between activities which have historically operated independently of one another. “Currently, many electric utilities are duplicating their efforts,” said Larry Durke, Director of Software Development for Roussey Companies.   “The engineering department generates a design, then the GIS department redraws the entire design in the GIS system.  Now, with this interface, the entire design, including the land base, can be imported directly from ADDS into the GIS system.”

KEMA Consulting/GeoIT drew on its extensive experience in providing integration solutions to produce a tool that extends the automation of the distribution design process. The interface, like ADDS, is customized to a utility’s standards and processes. This allows KEMA Consulting/GeoIT to program custom events or triggers to further automate repetitive tasks GIS designers may currently face. Bill Folchi, Executive Vice President, Corporate Development and Initiatives of KEMA Consulting/GeoIT, states, “ADDS provides the productivity improvement our customers need and supports the maintenance of accurate, current, asset information critical to their overall operation.”
